Liberty—to be free.

Equality—absence of discrimination.

Fraternity—brotherhood.

These are the three main messages in Bastille Day. Bastille Day is a national holiday in France that looks back on the storming of the prison called the Bastille. This was the French symbol of King Louis the Sixteenth’s arbitrary and absolute power. He concentrated his hold on the Bastille so when the people stormed or attacked it, they showed the world that the power of their king was no more. A country’s power should be based on its people and should always be limited by the division of the said powers.

Bastille Day happened on the 14th of July 1789. This event was the start of the French Revolution. Liberty, fraternity, and equality are the symbols of the three French colors in the national flag. Through the people’s takeover of the Bastille, monarchy was put to an end and sovereignty took the floor. Bastille Day is just as important as when the Declaration of Independence was signed. And just like in the United States, Bastille Day started a brand new form of governance.

Courage was what it took to make the start of the new French government possible. It was a struggle on the part of the people to overpower the absolute power of their king. But through all those hardships, they achieved self-determination.

In the world of business, self determination, courage, liberty, equality, and fraternity are practiced altogether. Every entrepreneur moves in circles that could possibly help him or her achieve the ultimate goal of economic independence.

Self-determination is a right to the French people. They fought for it in the storming of the Bastille prison. In today’s batch of business people, self-determination is a needed trait to pursue what you want in your career. Business is a very competitive line of work. You really have to assert yourself to make things happen to your company’s advantage.

Courage is one of the traits that a good entrepreneur should have. Risks will always be there in every venture. Knowing that they are ever-present, the entrepreneur should still have the courage to push through. It is in facing the risks that you will be able to know what kind of entrepreneur you are.

Liberty or the freedom to do what you want or the freedom to be what you want. This is another message brought about by Bastille Day. By engaging in your own business, you have the freedom to do and be what you want. Everything will rely on your own strategies and knowledge.

Equality is also present in the business world. Everyone should be given equal rights to achieve economic advancement.

Fraternity also makes up the world of business because when companies work together and build each other up, there can only be progress for everyone.

What to do with such progress? Build up your business. Grow it very well that the consumers become your partners all the way.
