You have a great business offering an amazing product. You decide that procurement can be a good opportunity to achieve more monthly sales and possibly lease that bigger space down the block.

There are so many procurement opportunities available from the local and federal government alone. Their need stems from basic commodities to big ticket items. There are a lot of listings online, on newspapers or down at the city hall of every need that the government requires.

But before you look for contract opportunities, here is one thing you need to do FIRST.

Register your company, quick.

This is easy. The internet will be your best ally to finish this task.

  • Start by checking out the Federal Supply Class or Service (FSC/SVC) codes and the North American Industry Classification System or NAICS codes. With this, you can see the classification of your company and find out the privileges that you avail to maximize your income.
  • After checking the codes, you are now ready to get a DUNS number from Dun and Bradstreet. You can accomplish this simply by visiting the Dun and Bradstreet website.
  • Register your company at Central Contractor Registration to get your MPIN. Be sure to check on the details with the agencies as the Department of Defense and other government offices often require additional registration.

I’m done. What’s next?

The federal government has now made it easier for people to search through a collection of procurement needs online. Information and listings are readily available in these websites. Register to these sites using your DUNS and MPIN in order to view the listings. Locate the best contracting opportunity and click your way to better business options.
